Theatre in Futurist Aesthetics

To mark the centenary of the anthology I nuovi poeti del futurismo (The New Poets of Futurism, Rome, Edizioni futuriste di Poesia, 1925), the Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli is taking part in the initiative “The New Poets of Futurism. 100 Years Later (1925–2025)”,  promoted by the Fondazione Primo Conti with the support of the Città Metropolitana di Firenze under the patronage of the Municipality of Fiesole.

 

Curated by Silvia Porto, the project features a series of lectures exploring the many languages of Futurism — from literature to theatre, from painting to music, and from architecture to fashion — to rediscover the innovative power and enduring relevance of a movement that merged art and life into a single, dynamic, interdisciplinary vision.

 

On Saturday, 25 October at 4:00 p.m., the Fondazione Zeffirelli will host, the lecture “Theatre in Futurist Aesthetics”, presented by Maria Alberti, theatre historian and Head of Education at the Fondazione Zeffirelli.

 

The event will offer an in-depth look at Futurist theatre as a space for linguistic, visual, and performative experimentation — an art of speed, gesture, and provocation that anticipated many aspects of contemporary performance.
