Universities and Academies

The Franco Zeffirelli Foundation, following the Maestro’s own wishes, aims to make available to the public, especially to young people, the extraordinary material he produced and collected over the more than seventy years of his exceptional artistic career in both theatre and cinema.

The Library, the Archive, and the Museum, which showcases only a small part of the collected material, represent an important model for new generations. They will have the opportunity to closely observe the work of Franco Zeffirelli, one of the great Masters of the performing arts of the twentieth century, discovering his exceptional talent in drawing and design, his meticulous attention to detail, his great discipline, and absolute dedication to his work, as well as the techniques he employed.

The Museum’s strong educational focus makes a visit to the Zeffirelli Museum particularly meaningful for students in Artistic and Performing Arts programs at Universities, Fine Arts Academies, and Conservatories.

The Franco Zeffirelli Foundation offers interactive guided tours designed to be lessons in the field, where one can learn about the work behind a theatrical production or a film set in a sort of “backstage” experience, from the initial design phase to the final staging.

The guided tour can be arranged with interested teachers to be tailored to the specific course of study, and may include an exclusive visit to the Library and Archive of Franco Zeffirelli.

The duration of the tours can vary between 60 and 90 minutes.

The cost is 8 euros per student for groups larger than 10 people, and 12 euros for groups of fewer than 10, corresponding to the reduced or full admission fee.
Guided tours in English for schools, universities and academies will be €15 per student with a minimum of 5 students or €18 per student for groups of less than 5 people.

Due to the educational mission of the Zeffirelli Foundation, tours conducted by a member of the internal staff are free of charge. Teachers are entitled to free admission.
