Engaged in the creation of documentary films about the world of cinema and the history of art, he has received numerous awards, including three Nastri d’Argento. The first was in 1981, followed by a lifetime achievement award in 2012, and the following year, a special prize for Alberto il grande, a film focused on Alberto Sordi and co-directed with his brother, actor and director Carlo Verdone.
Among his notable works are Il Futurismo (2010), La Commedia all’Italiana (1988), Antologia del Neorealismo (1979), as well as extraordinary portraits of great cinema and theater figures such as Federico Fellini, Lina Wertmuller, Ettore Petrolini, Aldo Fabrizi, Franco Zeffirelli, and Sergio Leone.
Since 2016, he has also served as artistic consultant for cultural events at the Alberto Sordi Museum Foundation, based in the residence of the great Roman actor.
Recently, in memory of his father, he created the documentary Mario Verdone: The Traveling Critic (2024), which was presented with great success at the Rome Film Fest.
