Kids at the Opera!

A Unique Experience in the Heart of the Zeffirelli Museum

Thanks to the extraordinary materials preserved in the Museum of the Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli Onlus — a living testament to the Maestro’s long career in theatre, opera, and cinema, and declared by the Italian Ministry of Culture as being of “particular historical interest” — Kids at the Opera! returns, a project designed to introduce new generations to the performing arts.

 

This initiative draws strength from an exceptional scenographic heritage and from a prestigious international recognition: opera, recently inscribed by UNESCO on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list.

 

The project is conceived and produced by the Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli Onlus, in collaboration with the Teatrolà Theatre Group, with the support of Banco BPM.

 

 

Program for Children (Ages 5–12)

An experience designed for children and their parents, offering them the chance to discover the magic of opera theatre inside the Zeffirelli Museum.

 

Interactive Visit

Accompanied by young guides and Teatrolà educators, children will have the opportunity to:

• explore original sketches, costumes, and scale models from Zeffirelli’s productions;
• discover stories, curiosities, and secrets from behind the scenes;
• take part in a dynamic and engaging visit made of questions, games, and guided activities.

 

Theatre Workshop

After the tour, children will be invited to become the protagonists of the opera stories they encountered during the visit.

 

Cost

The activity is free for all children and includes free admission for one accompanying adult.
Additional accompanying adults may enter with a reduced ticket.

 

Program for High School Students (FSL)

The project also involves students from upper secondary schools (third and fourth years), offering them:

• two educational preparatory visits to the Zeffirelli Museum;
• the opportunity to become junior guides during the Saturday morning visits;
• the chance to assist the educators during the theatre workshop.

All activities are conducted under the supervision of the Foundation’s Education Coordinator, Maria Alberti.

 

Schedule of Activities

Activities take place on Saturday mornings, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

Each session is designed for a group of up to 15 children.

The opera stories featured during the workshops will be revealed as a surprise among those explored in the guided tour.
