The Franco Zeffirelli Foundation and the Zeffirelli Trust for the International Centre for the Performing Arts announce the establishment of the Franco Zeffirelli Award, a new and prestigious recognition created to honour one of the most influential figures in 20th-century performing arts and an enduring symbol of Italian artistic excellence worldwide. The first edition of the Award will take place in Florence, the Maestro’s birthplace, on 16 February 2026.
Back inside the Zeffirelli Museum is the photographic exhibition Zeffirelli's Celebrities, portraits of the divas and stars who worked with Franco Zeffirelli during his 70-year artistic career.
Thanks to the kind contribution of the Baroni family, some of the most significant pieces of stage lighting by Guido Baroni will be permanently exhibited in the Zeffirelli Museum.
Starting from September 2024, the Saturday guided tours led by the internal staff will return. At 11:00 AM, the Museum staff will be available to accompany you on an exclusive guided tour of the Zeffirelli Museum.

An afternoon dedicated to documentary cinema and to the cultural legacy of Franco Zeffirelli: on Saturday, 15 November, at 4:00 p.m., the Educational Rooms of the Franco Zeffirelli Foundation will host the final screening of the course “How to Make a Documentary”, led by film director and documentarian Luca Verdone. ollowing the students’ screenings, the Foundation will present Per Firenze (For Florence), the documentary Franco Zeffirelli made in 1966 during the days of the Florence flood.
The Franco Zeffirelli Foundation is pleased to host, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 6:00 PM, the event “Dialects in Theatre: History, Innovations, and Audience Reception”, which will take place in the Sala della Musica at Piazza San Firenze 5, Florence. Thursday, May 15th, the Zeffirelli Museum will offer extended opening hours from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, including a guided tour with the reduced admission ticket. This initiative is part of the "Amico Museo 2025" event
On the last Thursday of each month, from October 2024 to May 2025, young people can access the Zeffirelli Museum for free to create videos and stories to share on social media.
On April 9 at 4:00 PM, the presentation of the book "Ennio Morricone. Il genio,l'uomo, il padre" by Marco Morricone and Valerio Cappelli will take place. Andrea Morricone will perform two of his father's famous pieces on the piano for the audience. The event will be moderated by Gregorio Moppi, music critic for La Repubblica.
From Oct. 4 to Nov. 30, 2024, the music room of the Zeffirelli Foundation will host an exhibition of the Costumes designed by Danilo Donati for Franco Zeffirelli’s film Fratello Sole, Sorella Luna.
On November 22, at the headquarters of the Franco Zeffirelli Foundation in Florence, a scholarly conference will be held to explore Franco Zeffirelli's contributions to the performing arts in the latter half of the 20th century.
