An Event at the Intersection of Language, Art, and Theatre
The Franco Zeffirelli Foundation is pleased to host, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 6:00 PM, the event “Dialects in Theatre: History, Innovations, and Audience Reception”, which will take place in the Sala della Musica at Piazza San Firenze 5, Florence.
This appointment is part of the Piazza delle Lingue 2025 program, an initiative promoted and organized by the Accademia della Crusca under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and UniCoop Firenze, and in collaboration with the Franco Zeffirelli Foundation and the Associazione Amici dell’Accademia della Crusca.
Dialects and theatre: un dialogo vivo
The 2025 edition of Piazza delle Lingue focuses on the theme “Uses and Perception of Italian Dialects Today”.
It offers an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable vitality of dialects in contemporary life — from writing to music, from theatre to cinema — as authentic expressions of Italian cultural and linguistic heritage.

Following the discussion, the audience will enjoy the performance:
“Milite Ignoto quindicidiciotto”, a theatre-story performance written, directed, and performed by Mario Perrotta, an intense theatrical journey that combines linguistic research, historical memory, and stage narrative.
