On the occasion of the first edition of the Franco Zeffirelli Award, the Franco Zeffirelli Foundation, in collaboration with the Regional Mediateca of Tuscany – Fondazione Sistema Toscana, presents “An Endless Love”, a talk dedicated to the cinema of Maestro Franco Zeffirelli, one of the most influential figures in Italian and international film culture.
The event will take place on Wednesday, February 11 at 4:30 pm, at the Regional Mediateca of Tuscany (Via San Gallo 25, Florence).
Free admission, subject to availability.
Franco Zeffirelli, Master of Cinema and Theatre
Director, screenwriter, set and costume designer of extraordinary talent, Franco Zeffirelli was one of the most internationally acclaimed Italian artists of his time. His filmography includes works that have left an enduring mark on the history of cinema, such as Romeo and Juliet, Brother Sun, Sister Moon, Jane Eyre, Tea with Mussolini, The Taming of the Shrew, Endless Love, Storia di una capinera and Callas Forever, alongside celebrated film adaptations of major operas including Cavalleria rusticana, La traviata, Otello and Hamlet.
Recipient of numerous David di Donatello and Nastro d’Argento awards, Zeffirelli was able to combine formal rigor, narrative sensitivity and a distinctive, enduring aesthetic vision.
The Talk “An Endless Love”
As part of the program of initiatives accompanying the Award, the talk “An Endless Love” is curated by Professor Stefano Socci, Professor of Film History and film critic. The event will offer the public an in-depth exploration of the language, themes and authorial signature of Franco Zeffirelli’s cinema.
